I was thinkingabout that if I am one of the victims.I may not as strong as them.I am very embarrassing that I just can donate my money and pray for them. When I am older I think that I will donate more money and go to the disaster area to help the needy to build a better society for them. Maybe I will also be friends with them to help them to get off from the pain.
Nicolas- During yesterday's three-minute mouring, Ifelt Hong Kong people are very lucky because we didn't get hurt. There was something that I was thinking of,while there was an earthquake in Szechwan, what they thought in their mind?
The earthquake victims lost their home, their family members. I don't think I can do many things for them but I know that I can donate money or give clothes to them through the Red Cross. Now, I'm thinking of what can I do for China when I grow up. Maybe I can be an engineer when I grow up because the buildings in China are not firm, so that if I am an engineer,I can rebuild the buildings in China to ensure the people's safety.
Jason Szeto- I was thinking of how to slove the problem if I am the chairman of China and how to let this problem will not appear.Last I think how to let Chinese people having a wonderful life. WE can donate money to help them. accturly only the goverment can help them. Therefore we should find out the problem which come from the goverment so we cann help them because of the good goverment. I want to become apart of government to help them.

I can donate some money and think about of them and give them a big benediction when I am in school.

working, I can donate some money suggestion to help China andthink about of them and pay for them.

When I am older, and I am working, I will go to the poor places in China, help the people to improve their livings lives.
Muky- During yesterday's three-minute mourning, I felt mournful and I wanted to cry. Images of dead people and collapsed
buildings appeared in my mind when the mourning started. I thought of my family while the mourning was going on. I should
treasure the things which I had now. I had given my support to the earthquake victims by donating money and prayed
for them everyday. When I am older, I would like to be a teacher in the developing places in China. I hope children in
these places can enjoy the happiness of absorbing knowledge. I am not sure whether my objective willchange or not,
but at least I have it now.
Carmel - I felt woeful during yesterday’s three-minute mourning, because the Sichuan earthquake was very terrible, it made many schools, houses and factories collapsed, and many people are still under the rubble and wait for help. I thought of the parents who lost their children when we mourned. I thought of the victims while I was reading the newspaper these days. I donated my own pocket money to the charity to support the earthquake victims. When I am older, I will use my money to go to the poor places in China and help them to build up better places to live.
Dicky--- I felt a little bit upset during yesterday's three minute mourning. I thought about the people who had lost their children, relatives or friends e.t.c. How poor they were! When I noticed that the Sichuan poor people needed the food and money, I thought of myself that was very lucky since the possibility of earthquake appeared in Hong Kong was very low. I would like to donate some money to the people who is needed for help. I hoped the money can help them to solve this problem. When I were order, I would go the the poor places to help the need people.
Michael~~ I felt the depression during yesterday's three-minute mouring. I though of if the school collapsed while we were lessoning, we would die. I though of my family as well. The speration with my family members is sad. Maybe some of us will die. And that would be last forever. It made me feel the power of human is very least. I think we can do right now is to donate money for those victims. Money can help for reconstruction. If we can, we can apply to go Sichuan desperatly but that nearly impossible. I can be a businessman. Money can change the life of Chinese.
Danny--- I felt that we are lucky during yesterday's three-minute mourning. I'm thinking of Hong Kong peoples. We live in Hong Kong, luckily we didn't have an earthquake, we haven't lost any peoples around us, we're lucky. I'm thinking about my life, my warm family, my good friend. I learn that life is fragile, all the peoples around us and care to us are also valuable. I'm a stingy people, I just donate a little money for the victims, and I felt I'm abashed when the time of class donation so I think I should do something for the victims like send some encouraging message to them. While a good life is running, it should have many obstacles. In the future, I would earn much and much money, even I'm a worker or a doctor, I would donate the money to the poor places and help them to develop, if that, disasters would be decrease in the future.
Penny__ During yesterday's three-minute mouring, I felt sorry and sad for the people who died in the earthquake. I could think of their fear and painful when the earthquake happened. Especially the people who lost their friends, relatives and family. I am so sorry about that. I htink the best thing we can do is to donate more money to the Sichuan people by using the money to get much more medical appliances for the survivor of the earthquake. I think to make a place better cannot be done by one person but the whole country's people. The people in the country should stand up for each other together. When I grow up, I think I will be a lawyer. I will fight for the rights and maybe that will make Hong Kong, or even China a better place.
Nathania-While I was during yesday's three minute mourning, I felt the pain in my heart, because Chinese people had lots of accidents during these years, all the Chinese people were thinking of them! And maybe we can avoid another earthquake in the future.
Ada-I felt upset during yesterday's three-minutes mourning. While I was watching the TV programme about this earthquake, I was thinking of the victims and crying for them. I can donate some money to the victims and pray for some of them who didn't know anything about god. I hope they can be fine very soon. When I am older, I will learn more about psychology because I think the psychology of people is very important.
Mandy-The equthquake which caused millions of people die and hurt was happened in Sichuan. While it was strucking the buildings, the schools collapsed. Many people were injured and they got pain in their hearts for losing their lovers and families. During the three minute morning yesterday, I felt very depressed. I am glad that the people who were injured were saved by the rescue team. While I was walk on the streets these days, I often donated money and i hope that these money could help the victims.when I am older I will go to Sichuan to help people who haven't learnt because of the earthquake and i will teach them.
Jessica - The earthquake was really a very sudden disaster. Everything seems happens so quick. I was thinking about what the people in Sichuan was doing before the earthquake while we were mourning yesterday. They were enjoying their happy moments, and maybe that was the last happy moment they could have. They would never know there would be an earthquake later. No one will even think of an earthquake. So while the mourning yesterday, my heart was just like being bite up. Although we are Chinese too, but we cannot help them as much. We can only donate our money to them. But they will have painful memories about this earthquake. And that cannot be help by money. Eventually, China got benefits from the earthquake too, it's because the whole China can stand up and join together to help the people in Sichuan too.
Hilda-On 12th May, around 2:28 p.m. , one of the most terriable disaters was happened in Sichuan. An earthquake which is 8 class in strength was broken out. During yesterday's three-minutes mouring, I thought about the people who their family members dead in the earthquake, the people who were still under the stones and the heap of rubble and the people who were safe in the earthquake. I think about the solids, they are very confidence. I think I can't do that. Although we can't same as the soliders that healing people in Sichuan, we can donate money and pray for them. I will study hard in Geog, and worked for china. I hope this can help China. Although it is only a easy things, I hpoe I can do that.

Peggy- During yesterday's three-minute mourning, I felt sad for the earthquake victims in Sichuan. I donated much money to the earthquake victims and I may donate more money to them because I think they are so pitiful and they need our help. I think the thing, which I can do is only to donate money to them. Although I was not in Sichuan while the earthquake was happening. But I also feel the scare that they have. While I was watching the television program, I was thinking about ‘Will there have many doctor in China in the future?’ and ‘How can I help them?’ I think I will be a doctor in the future because I can treat the people it the have an earthquake or anything, which make the people hurt.
Winky - While I was having the three-minutes mouring yesterday, I was thinking of my family. I felt sorrow about the people who were dead or hurted in the earthquake. I can pray for the victims and donate money to support them. I see many charities appeal people to donate when I walked through the street. It means many people consider about this earhtquake including me. When I am older, I can donate much more money and help to build up schools in China, especially take care and consider of the children.
Sunny - I felt touching during yesterday's three-minute mourning because I saw how this earthquake join Chinese together. While I was mourning, I saw all Chinese in China was crying for people who suffered from this disaster. I can donate money to the charity which will bring the money to support the earthquake victims. I always thought of becoming a doctor when I was young because I wanted to help people to get away from painful.
Responses
Mr. Woo: During yesterday's three-minute mourning, I felt that the nation had come together well to meet the challenge of remembering, and rebuilding. I thought of how God destroys to test nations, to see whether they are ready to receive a double-portion of His blessing. Hopefully, China will pass this character test.
I've been supporting the earthquake recovery effort in class, teaching about it. I think the victims who have survived the earthquake would appreciate our efforts to understand their plight; while they are healing, we, too, heal with them.
In the future, maybe I will consider staying in China, because, I believe, it will need all the help it can get to transform its character. China is growing, but it will need help to grow properly, much like how a bush needs pruning. I guess, even now, when I am teaching English to Chinese people, I am supporting an effort for China to embrace the world.
Janet - Sure, this earthqake was a disaster, many people lost their families, sometimes, tthese feelings are worse than being the death one. But yesterday was a grand day fro chinese, not just only because of the mourning, mainly is because most of the people in China, or in the world were doing the same thing with the same attitude. They were having a stern resolve. I saw humanity. That was really a matter. Yes, we will never know why God test us, but yesterday's thre-minute mourning maybe is the clue, at least my clue. Actually, I was thinking about the word 'salvation' while we were mourning. I wondered whether the victims had cried for salvation from their souls.
I will pray for them, especially for those who lost their families. The feelings can be doleful and poignant. I haven't really experience it, but I can think of it. Material supports are important, but you cannot deny that mental supports are also important. Their souls are full of festered sores and wounds. I believe mental disabilities cause more pain than physical disabilities.
When I grow up, I will try to use words to influence and inspire Chinese people to be good, but not goody-goody. I will open their eye and let them see. Nowadays, some people are saying something like Asian culture or values to keep clear of globalization and western culture, but they actually cannot see the maladies. In this country, ignorance is not bliss.
Computer Literacy Questions
1) What role have computers played in this disaster? Or what impact have they had in this disaster – to help and to hinder.
2) What can we do with computers to help the Chinese people to cope with this situation?
Responses
Mr. Woo - without computers, we would not have been able to stand as a country together, in silence, for three minutes this afternoon. The Internet has made it easy for the entire world to communicate this solemn event to the right parties. Imagine how difficult organizing this task would have been without the aid of computers to help us to broadcast. Despite it's ability to bring people together, the computer cannot bring people back from the dead - only one guy can do that!
Winky - People can donate money and know the informations and news of the earthquake easily through the computers. Computers can control the machines that help to clean the stones in Sichun also. Some machines can explore and check whether there are alive people.
Janet - Computers let the whole world have the information about the earthquake, and arouse their sympathies and give China a helping hand. But the computer cannot predict this earthquake of Richter Scale of 7.8.
Tony-Computers let people sand message to say to their family they were safe.
WE can use the computer to give them money.
Yanny - Computers can help to raise money for the victims, people can give supports and wish Sichun people through internet. But computers cannot stop the earthquake and bring back dead people.
To answer the second question, to see what computers can do to help Chinese people to cope with the situation, one should just look right here at this writing. This wiki is bringing 20 heartfelt responses from Chinese students to the world, to grieve together and to inspire one another.
Ada - Computer can help us to get the imformation about the earthquake more easily and quickily. Therefore we can know what Sichuan's people need and help them such as donate money for them, pray for them... However computer cannot help us to give them food and saft them.
Mandy - Computer can upload some new photos and imformation about the earthquake. So the people are not in the Sichuan can share the ways to help those people and provide some new ideas to solve the problems. Computer cannot send the food and medicine to Sichuan.
Franco-Through computer we can know news about Sichuan earthquake immediately and other countries can also immediately to discuss what they can do for the victims in Sichuan and to send some goods and materials to the disaster area.
Jessica - The internet of the computer have a wide range of informations and knowledge provided, like the wikipedia. People can find more informations about earthquake inside them and to find more solutions to solve the problems in Sichuan. Also, the whole world of people can know the newest and latest news about the earthquake. For what can we do with the computer to help the Sichuan people, we can send e-mail of supports and also donate money to charities via the charities' webpage.
Ella-Computers can easier to take the initative of activities and call people to join in, to help the people in Sichuan to cope with this situation. Computers cannot give actions to clean up the messy place, and donate money to the people.
Dicky-Computer can let the whole world people to know the newest news, tell their parents or relatives since they're safe or not and call the other people to donate some money to the poor people.
Louis-Computers can let more and more people to see what happen to that place and ask them to donate more money. It help people know what the place need and help to find more people. It can make more people survive.
Hilda-Computer can let more people to join some meaningful activities about the earthquake, share some information about how to protect ourseleves when the earhtquake happened, share our feelings about the earthquake and the new messages about Sichuan earthquake. However, the people who were in Sichuan can't read our regard on the internet because all the computers were broken in the earthquake.
Samuela- Computer can help us to put all of the information about the dead people and survivors' personal information. It can help their family members to knew their situation! And we can also use computer to read more knowkedge about the earthquake so that we may avoid another earthquake from tis accident.
Computers act as communication tools in this situation. The people who help the Sichuan people can use computer to contact with the headquater and call them to deliver some medical treatment appliances. By PENNY
Computers can be linked to the world. We can communicate though the internet. The reporters from all over the world can upload the latest news back to their local broadcast. People typed their opinions online and get the government noticed. Besides, China tells the world that she is improving herself after the argument of free Tibet. BY michael
